Devin lives in Halifax with his partner Sandi. Their living room features a home Tiki Bar with boasts the unconfirmed largest collection of rum in Nova Scotia. They are also very active with CrossFit, running and curling. As a sports fanatic, Devin eagerly awaits the return of his beloved Montreal Expos. In the meantime, he lives and dies by the wins and losses of the Nashville Predators, New Orleans Saints, Queensland Reds and Brisbane Broncos.
Born in Truro, NS, Devin was raised in Montreal, QC. He returned to Nova Scotia to attend Dalhousie University and completed his Bachelor of Arts degree (history and political science) in 1998 and Bachelor of Laws degree in 2001. Prior to joining Conrad Connors, Devin completed his articles with a major Nova Scotia law firm and was an associate with that firm for six years. Over the past several years Devin has gained greater experience working in a smaller firm environment.
Devin was called to the Nova Scotia bar in June of 2002. He practices in all areas of litigation including personal injury, insurance claims, judicial and administrative review, commercial disputes, Aboriginal rights, human rights, and institutional abuse claims. Recently, Devin has also become involved with the representation of young athletes.
Over the years, Devin has developed an expertise and passion for obtaining compensation for survivors of physical and sexual abuse. He has represented victims of abuse perpetrated by Catholic priests, staff at various Nova Scotia youth facilities and government employees.
Devin has appeared before all courts in Nova Scotia, as well as the Federal Court of Canada.
Devin is the former President of the Halifax Tars Rugby Football Club and The Resolutes Amateur Athletic Club. Past board memberships include the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society’s Race Relations Committee, the Executive Committee of the Canadian Bar Association’s Nova Scotia Branch, Skills Nova Scotia and Rugby Nova Scotia. He currently sits as a Member at Large of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers (NS).
